Tegan is a 22 23 24 year old public relations hybrid with a passion for social media and getting the most out of life.

About this blog
I never take myself too seriously. I’ve had a knack for publicity since the age of 8 when I convinced the Daily Hearld to cover the backyard wedding I organized for my Golden Retriever. Needless to say, I started this blog as an experiment. A way to get my thoughts and views out into the world. I’m not one for restrictions. This blog will be about anything and everything and my goal is that you can all relate to something that I write about. Public relations, social media, sports, music, fashion, and life in general. The best blogs continue to evolve and grow. Stay tuned and I hope you participate in this journey along with me.

What is a public relations hybrid?

Public Relations pl.n. Abbr. PR
1. The science or art of establishing and promoting a favorable relationship with the public

Hybrid n.

1. Something having two kinds of components that produce a new result; of a mixed origin

A public relations hybrid is someone who embraces a mix of traditional and new publicity strategies.PR professionals today wear multiple hats and our roles are constantly changing. Just because our roles change doesn’t mean we say buh-bye to old practices. Instead, we mix and create a new breed of professional.A public relations hybrid isn’t from a certain generation. He or she can come from Gen X, Y, or Z. What matters is a determination to pave the way for our field and an open mind for what lies ahead. This is a little something I thought about and took the liberty of naming and defining. Are you a public relations hybrid?

More about me
Tegan is a graduate of the wonderful University of Iowa, where she earned a BA in Communication Studies with Distinction in Journalism from the University in May 2009. As an undergrad, Tegan became interested in public relations and was involved in various organizations including the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), serving as the President and Firm Director, and the National Society of Success and Leadership, serving as the Public Relations Director, among many others. She also had the opportunity to intern with Universal Pictures for two years as a Campus Rep and marketing intern.

In 2008, Tegan spent the summer in New York City as an intern for Sarah Hall Productions, a boutique public relations agency. Throughout her multiple internships, Tegan has learned the basic in’s and out’s of public relations and client management, multiple media landscapes, and the importance of hard work.

Upon graduation, she jumped head first into the world of SEO, financial public relations, and digital marketing at Vivid Ascent, an integrated marketing firm in Chicago. Tegan has since then taken a position as a member of the social media team at Sears Holdings Corporation in Chicago/Hoffman Estates. She assists with format wide digital/social programs, including holiday, and manages blogger relations (and loves it!).

When she has free time, Tegan enjoys reading, spending time with her family and friends, horseback riding, snowboarding, exploring social media and attending Young Professional events in Chicago. Her life goals include establishing herself as a respected professional, creating her own non-profit foundation dedicated to children with brain tumors, owning her own condo, serving as a board member of PRSA and running the Chicago Marathon. (ACCOMPLISHED!)
